All diabetes patients must have a blood glucose test

All diabetes patients must have a blood glucose test at least once or twice a month to check the level of the blood sugar. Knowing the level of their blood glucose put then in a better position to control the disease. Most people will see their family doctor to had their glucose test while some who had the knowledge can do on their own at home.

Before taking your glucose test all patients are instructed not to take any thing or food at least ten hours at night before going for the glucose blood test in the morning. The doctor will take a sample of your blood by drawing from your arms a small portion of blood into a small cycliner. Sometimes a random urine sample is used. For people who are already diagnose with diabetes the check of glucose levels are often checked both while fasting and after meals to provide the best control of diabetes.
